Google's Got Us!

This morning I searched "Descendants of Mandi" in Google and the site came up as the #1 entry! We are now officially on the map!

My first attempt with a localized search box was a disappointment. Fusionbot, which provides free search capabilities to small web sites, ...it's spider only indexed two of our pages...I have delayed placing the box on the site until I achieve more significant results...and make all surnames in the site searchable...Stay Tuned.

The July update should be complete by the 4th of July.


Slide Show

This month, I am adding new slide show navigation to the intro / welcome page. This will be another way for visitors to get access the wealth of information on our family website. As the pictures flash by, viewers will be able to click them and go directly to that person's individual genealogical page. It will give a visual entry point to the site to augment the two lists of family names that currently serve as gateways into the site. I am going through my files (and my father's files) to gather and identify as many photos as I can (probably 20-25 indivuals). I will add these to the slide show myself. When I run dry we will need contributions from the collections of family members to more completely represent the breadth of family members.

NOTE: I can only add yourself and your loved ones to the SLIDE SHOW NAVIGATION if I have a good clear picture of yourself or your family member. (head and shoulders shots are preferred). You can email any shots you might have to ericjw33@gmail.com. Now more than ever we need contributions of pictures to the Descendants of Mandi website. (Thanks Danielle!!!)

I am also considering adding a site specific search engine to enable people to search the site from search boxes on the index and welcome pages...STAY TUNED!

Descendants of Mandi--Updates for July 2005

Thank you to all the family members who emailed me with changes, corrections and clarifications on the website entries. We were able to "fix" several families which had incorrect surnames listed--due to limitations of our source tree, which did not capture full spouse names beyond the 3rd or fourth generation from Grandma Mandi. I also did some original genealogical research at ancestry.com and was able to add birth dates and death dates for some of the members of Dennis Williams' family. Below is a list of the changes that appear in this month's updates.
