Ms. Hannah was probably fathered by the slave master, who forced himself u pon her mother, Harriet Elizabeth Ryner Williams. Eventually, Harmon's pro tests of the rape lead to the altercation which resulted in his leaving t he family. He escaped for freedom after overpowering several men who had b een sent to whip him. Harriet later remarried Burl Rivers father.
